I've always been interested in Carvin guitars too! They have some beautiful exotic wood guitars.
I have seen you reviewed Nick Huber guitars on your blog, they are nice, Redwood looks interesting, even not quite for my taste. As you see, Gibson came somewhere on the 4th position for me, and for the look Redwood comes in the same category (kind of classic looking shaped guitar)
Well, for Hamer, if you like them Carvin comes naturally, they walk hand in hand as look and feel. Carvin guitars started to interest me lately after playing 3 models "by accident" in a guitar shop. They sound brilliant, I was charmed!
Of course I waited to buy it on Ebay later...
Fiscal Musings - The secret is to be happy with the current guitar and never dream of new ones considering that the guitar you have is not good. If you are happy with the bass sounds, it is great, it means you have peace of mind and ready to create music, not stressed by the idea that your guitar does not sound good.
But I do speak about look and feel here too, not just about the sound, cause IMO these too affect the way you think about your guitar and in order to be "perfect" you also need to see it as perfect from a visual and tactile point of view.
I've got some reviews coming out soon on http://www.guitarvibe.com on the new Taylor Electrics (beautiful, but not cheap) and also a Fender Squier Telecaster (beautiful and cheap!) The other guitar that intrigues me is a Line 6 Variax 700.
